Using SPM English Results
Malaysian students can also use their SPM English results as proof of English proficiency. The current SPM English examination includes a CEFR level assessment. Students who achieve CEFR B2 or above in their SPM English can use this result in place of an external English test at most Irish institutions, including MTU, ATU, TUS, SETU, and several others.

How Do I Register for an Irish Residence Permit (IRP)?
Malaysian students can enter Ireland without a pre-entry visa. Once you arrive, you must register for an Irish Residence Permit (IRP) within 90 days. The IRP is a credit card-sized document that confirms your permission to live and study in Ireland. As a student, you receive Stamp 2 permission.
What You Need for IRP Registration
- Valid passport
- College enrolment letter (dated after your course start date)
- Proof of paid tuition
- Financial proof - EUR 10,000 in your own Irish bank account (recommended) or your parent's bank account with a sponsorship letter

During the Stamp 1G period you can work full time, without sponsorship, at any employer in Ireland. Many Malaysian graduates use this time to gain European work experience, convert to a Critical Skills Employment Permit, or begin the pathway to permanent residency.
Make sure your programme leads to a Level 8 Honours degree or above. Ordinary (Level 7) degrees do not qualify for Stamp 1G. All programmes arranged through Mystudy lead to qualifying degrees.
